In our lives we search for, long for, seek after healing. Whether it’s internal, spiritual or physical it is a quest that flows below the surface of our lives, usually this quest is private and un-noteworthy but is played out again and again by the un-whole individual. The work I have created manifests this search and eternal longing to be healed, which is often unnoticed and unknown to everyone else. The basis of my work is found in the bible in Mathew 9:20.

“20 And suddenly, a woman who had a flow of blood for twelve years came from behind and touched the hem of His garment. 21 For she said to herself, “If only I may touch His garment, I shall be made well.” 22 But Jesus turned around, and when He saw her He said, “Be of good cheer, daughter; your faith has made you well.” And the woman was made well from that hour.”

This sculpture simulates a crowd of people or a crowd of garments. The one garment in the center represents what we are all searching for – the power of healing. The purpose is for the audience to long to find and touch the Hem of His garment. Just as I am forced to search for my personal healing I want to bring my audience along to search for theirs as well.
